Our Southold New York vineyards were planted in 2003, after years of research, careful preparation of the soil and determined land preservation actions. We planted carefully selected "Clones" of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Sauvignon Blanc, all vinifera grapes on rootstock selected for each soil type on the farm. The Vineyards total ten-and-a-half acres on our fourteen acre site. The plantings are 8' wide rows with 5' vine spacing totaling 1089 vines per acre. Trellising is vertical shoot with wooden line posts. Both cane and spur prunning practices are implemented, depending on varietal and style of wine being produced. Leaf pulling and all canopy management is done by hand. Our fruit is hand-picked during harvest season insuring less damage to vines, and higher quality control in fruit.
